The most popular sport in the world, a soccer game between two teams, ends with one of the three possible outcomes: draw (D), win (W) or loss (L). The match outcome and more globally, the championship ranking, is the consequence of team performance (Longo et al., 2019). Team performance is the product of the combination of technical, tactical, and physical abilities during a soccer game (Stølen et al., 2005), although a myriad of intrinsic and extrinsic factors can also influence team’s success in a soccer match.
